Richmond Waterfront Development

In our ongoing attempt to keep track of the current rush of development around the San Francisco Bay Area waterfront, we’d like to alert you to a public hearing coming up next week concerning the big ‘Terminal One’ project planned for Point Richmond’s Brickyard Cove neighborhood, right smack up against Richmond Yacht Club’s property (which, fortunately, the club owns and is not leasing from any government agency).

The only building on the Terminal One grounds is a relic of World War I. Someone seems to want to “keep” it.

The hearing, to be conducted by the City of Richmond Planning Division Design Review Board will be held on Wednesday, December 13, at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room, basement level, at 440 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond. For details and renderings, see www.ci.richmond.ca.us/terminalone. The size, density and height (six stories) of the project worry the existing community.

RYC sent us this notice, but the hearing time coincides with the club’s big annual meeting and election of officers, so it’s unlikely that the movers and shakers, or a strong showing of concerned members, will be able to make it. If any of our readers are able to attend, we’d be interested to hear what transpires.
