Searching for an Old Flame, ‘Kate II’

Kimball Livingston, a recent commodore of St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, has asked us to help find his old flame, Kate II ….

Kate II took a lot of kids sailing while she was the flagship of St. Francis Yacht Club (StFYC), and she made me a happy skipper.

Now I’ve lost track of Kate, and I can rest easier if I just kinda sorta know where she is and how she’s getting along.

Find me, please, on Facebook, or leave a message at reception at StFYC. Not every old girl has tales of winning the 1960 Swiftsure. She’s a goer in 4 knots or 40. — Kimball Livingston.

Have you seen Kate II, or do you know her current location?

Who is the designer? Model of boat? We have a lot of old woodies that are still sailing in Port Townsend. Maybe someone up here has information but her name may have changed.

Am now in touch with Kevin Hinman, current owner of Kate II, who is presently recaulking the decks and refinishing the brightwork. He was pleased to hear from me and sent about two dozen pin-up worthy pics.
The boat is in the Delta now but will be returning to SF Bay, and Kevin professes to be keen to take me sailing. We’ll see how that goes, but the immediate mission is fulfilled.
I knew that Latitude could do it. Thanks. – Kimball Livingston
