Memorial Day: Remembering Those Who Sacrificed

This Memorial Day we honor the men and women who have served and sacrificed in defense of our country. On this weekend in particular it was inspiring to see so many boats flying our nation’s flag during the annual Master Mariners Regatta. We’ll share that story and more photos later in the week, but for today, we say, “Thank you,” to those who fought and gave their lives for our country.

It was another blustery Memorial Day weekend Master Mariners Regatta. Happy Memorial Day — we hope you get to hoist your colors today as well.

Thank you for publishing your article, “Memorial Day: Remembering Those Who Sacrificed” on Monday, May 25, 2026 – lest we forget whom we are indebted to for the freedoms we enjoy.

We proudly hoist the American flag from the stern as normal rigging for any sailing day but saddened to see some flying the American flag from the starboard spreader (or elsewhere). Political statement(?) or not, it shows disrespect and ignorance (unless it’s a visiting foreign-flagged vessel).
