Three Dead in Chicago J/35 Accident
Four crew aboard the Chicago-based J/35 Jason were on their way to the boatyard on last Wednesday to haul out for the winter when crewmember 38-year-old Alexander Childers fell overboard. A small craft advisory had been issued just hours before and the seas had built to 10 feet when the accident happened. More »

Hawaiian Chieftain Towed into Tillamook
The Coast Guard reports the Hawaiian Chieftain was towed into Tillamook Bay on the Oregon coast yesterday after becoming disabled in rough conditions. The 12 crew on the 103-ft tallship, a fixture on San Francisco Bay for many years before moving to her new homeport of Grays Harbor, Washington, had struck sail when the winds increased to 35 knots but then found their 490-hp engine seized. The Coast Guard is asking for the public’s help in locating overdue solo sailor Everett Evans aboard the Aquarius 21 Grace. Evans left Kauai, Hawaii, on or around August 17 bound for Ketchikan, Alaska. More »
