Dow to End the Year Between 5,000 and 25,000

The latest word from the weather experts at NOAA is that there will be a moderate El Niño this fall in the Pacific, which tends to alter the jet stream to bring more storms and rain to Southern California. Experts at NOAA say the average moderate El Niño results in 11.82 inches of rain. However, looking back at two previous El Niños, there were just 3.8 inches in 2006-2007, and there were 22.47 inches in 2004-2005.

The folks at NOAA have also gone out on a limb to predict where the Dow Jones Industrial Average, currently at 16,713, will end the year. Allowing themselves the same range as they do for El Niño rainfall, they predict the Dow could end the year somewhere between 5,000 and 25,000.
