CATALINA 400 MK1 MK2
Catalina 400 (Mk I or Mk II) – Global Search – Cash Buyer for Late 2026
Hello fellow sailors,
I am a Swiss expat engineer living in the Philippines, searching for my next Catalina 400 (Mk I or Mk II). While I will strongly prioritize vessels located on the US West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington) or Mexico (Baja / Sea of Cortez) for logical relocation reasons, I remain completely open and flexible to any other location worldwide—including the Caribbean, Asia, the Philippines, or Europe—for the right boat.
I am a serious, patient buyer. I will be fully available to inspect and close the deal starting November 2026. I am a direct CASH buyer and will execute the payment via Wise (no bank financing or loan contingencies needed).
Important for US Sellers: To legally comply with the state sales tax exemption for export, the boat must be ready to sail so I can clear customs and exit US waters within 10 days of purchase. Upon closing, the vessel will immediately be deregistered and placed under a Polish flag for international transit. Once we reach an agreement and the inspection/survey is completed, I promise a fast, clean, and completely hassle-free transaction.
My ultimate goal is a reliable, 100% off-grid setup for long-range cruising in Asia, Indonesia, and Australia.
I have two absolute, non-negotiable criteria:
1. Wing Keel only.
2. Full Batten Mainsail (Slab reefing. Absolutely no in-mast furling).
Energy & Equipment Valuation:
I will highly value boats already equipped with robust solar arrays, high-capacity battery banks, and a watermaker. I am an engineer and I know these systems well; I will factor their quality and age directly into my purchase price.
Note on Engine (Westerbeke/Mitsubishi Preferred):
I have a strong preference for Westerbeke engines (specifically Mitsubishi-based blocks). As a mechanic, I am highly experienced with these powerplants. I will gladly consider a boat with a tired or worn engine that needs a future overhaul, provided it is currently operational and reliable enough to exit the country immediately.
Insurance & Rigging Condition:
The boat does not need to be perfect. However, the standing rigging must be in a state that allows the boat to be insured immediately for its transit. If the rigging is outdated and needs replacement later, I am still very interested, but the cost of the future replacement will be deducted from the sales price.
Delivery Option:
If you are planning a final blue-water cruise towards Asia or the Philippines before selling your boat, let’s connect! I would be thrilled to buy the vessel from you upon your arrival here.
If you have the right boat and want a guaranteed, flexible cash sale, please send a PM with your inventory, location, and price.
Fair winds!
