Help Latitude 38 Highlight 2026 Season Champions
As the 2026 racing season draws to a close, an annual tradition at Latitude 38 is to highlight the year’s season champions. One of the beauties of sailing is that there are so many fleets, types of boats and opportunities to race in different ways. That same fact that makes sailing so great can also makes it a challenge to cover as a journalist.

Sailing is not like professional football, or any other professional team sport. There is not just one game and one team that we have to consider each week. While football journalists in the Bay Area can primarily focus on the 49ers (tough one this weekend), any given weekend of sailing will feature five, 10, 15 or more regattas across a number of different classes.
With that in mind, it is always a team effort, which includes our amazing sailing community, to highlight all of the regattas. And we inevitably will miss some regattas that deserve the coverage.
As we work to highlight the 2026 season champions, I’d like to enlist the help of our community. Last year’s season champions, highlighted in three features across the December 2025, January 2026 and February 2026 editions of the magazine, highlighted the following championships:
- J/105
- J/24
- ILCA 6
- ILCA 7
- Ultimate 20
- Knarr
- Alerion 28
- Express 27
- Express 27 Long Distance Series
- Islander 36
- Moore 24 Roadmaster
- Olson 25
- Wylie Wabbit
- International 110
- Mercury
- Express 37
- El Toro
- Folkboat
- All of the YRA series
- All of the SSS series
- The BAMA Cup
If your fleet or season championship isn’t on this list, we’d love to highlight it this year. In order to have your fleet featured and your season champion recognized, please either fill out this form, or email [email protected] with a quote from the season champion and several pictures of the winning boat (with photo credits).
