The Coast Guard suspended their search for Theo Mavromatis, 49, yesterday afternoon after a 600-square mile grid search by the Coast Guard, the Mexican Navy and civilian volunteers found nothing but debris from the Hunter 376 Aegean aboard which Mavromatis was skipper. More »

Rutherford Closes Loop
At 10:48 a.m. EDT this morning, Annapolis’s Matt Rutherford crossed his outbound track, closing the loop on his record-setting nonstop solo circumnavigation of North and South America. The 31-year-old sailor set off from his hometown last June 11 aboard his Albin Vega 27 St. More »
Don Anderson Passes Away
The West Coast sailing community was dealt another blow on Saturday when Don Anderson was discovered dead aboard his Valiant 47 Summer Passage in Oxnard. "Don was known as the weatherman on so many radio nets throughout Mexico and the Pacific," writes Jim Barden of the Santa Rosalia, Mexico-based Morgan Out Island 28 Ann Marie. More »
