Thanksgiving Is a Time To Share Our Gratitude

At our weekly crew meeting on Monday, we were all asked to share something that we are grateful or thankful for from this current year. There was the usual delay while everyone held back, hoping to not be the first. But once we began, it was easy to add to the list of people and things for which we feel gratitude. This inspired us to share a little gratitude with our readers.

What are we thankful for?

Sailing: Those of us who can and do sail can enjoy the fresh air, the freedom, and the relaxation or exhilaration that sailing provides.

Community: Although most of us sail locally, we are a part of a global community with a common passion — to sail as often and to as many nearby or distant destinations as we can, sometimes in company, and sometimes alone. However we sail, we enjoy the experience and the sense of belonging to a unique and special, group of salty humans.

Latitude 38 magazine: Of course we were going to fit this plug in somewhere, but to be honest, sailing magazines are a part of what makes sailing and our community so great. Within the pages of each Latitude 38 you can find photos, stories, and commentary of happenings here on the West Coast and in various parts of the world. And we’re thankful for the opportunity to be the people who bring this all together so that sailors north and south of the 38th parallel, and to our east and west, can connect with their extended family, whether locally or in far-off seas.

We’re also thankful for all our readers (yes, that’s you!) and for all the businesses and companies that support our efforts to support and promote sailors and sailing across our range of platforms. We know we do our share of online publishing, but that wouldn’t happen if we didn’t have our print magazine to start with. Despite the metaphorical sweat and tears that we shed every month to meet our deadlines and get the magazine printed and delivered, we wouldn’t want it any other way. And each of us is thankful for every person who adds their efforts to the result.

So, now that we’ve written more than a “handful of words,” we’d like to take this opportunity to say, again, “Thank you, dear readers, for adding reward to our efforts. We are grateful for you and we wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend. Perhaps we’ll see you on the water!”

Here are a few photos we randomly pulled from this year’s ‘Lectronic Latitudes, though we only went back as far as September. Enjoy!

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. Our December issue will hit the decks on Monday!

What's next for the America's Cup
Like a family reunion you wish would never end, the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup is over. Now the speculation of when, where and who for the 38th edition begins.
