Denison Yachts Welcomes the First Excess 12 Catamaran to California

Guenivere King of West Coast Multihulls sent us this news about the new Excess catamaran arriving in San Diego, “The first Excess 12 was set to arrive in San Diego California on April 22, 2020. One slight problem, San Diego Bay was closed down to recreational boating due to the coronavirus. A few phone calls were made to local authorities and Denison’s delivery crew was given permission to receive the boat from the ship and go directly to the yard.

“Denison broker Kurt Jerman arrived at the ship promptly at 0700 to prep and ready the Excess 12 for launch. Other than a bit of salt and grim from 6 weeks on the ocean, the boat looked fabulous! It was less than 30 minutes and we were ready for the longshoremen to rig up the crane and slowly set her in the water. The support boat, with an excited crew, was alongside and ready to unhook her and make the short trek up the bay to the local yard for final commissioning and hopefully a West Coast unveiling (sailing) party soon!”

West Coast Multihulls also sent us the following note:

San Diego Bay is open for sailing: This comes as a very welcome surprise. After fits and starts, the San Diego Port Authority has chosen to open San Diego Bay to boating of all kinds, including sailing charter operations like WCM. We have the specific go-ahead from the Harbor Police, and WE’RE SO HAPPY!
