The Floating Boat Show

One of the great things about anchoring off St. Barth is the great boats you get to see. Some are old, some are new, some are big, some are small. It takes all kinds.

When we woke up the other morning, the beauty in the accompanying photo was anchored a little bit off our port. What a lovely yacht — in an obviously Maine style.

We subsequently learned that she is Drangonera — also the name of a small, uninhabited island off Mallorca, Spain — a 74-ft Joel White design built by Brookline Yachts of Maine in 1994. Her hulls are wood composite and her masts are carbon. Stylin’!

It is with heavy hearts that many Bay Area sailors are learning of the drowning death of local sailor and boatbuilder Rick Wood.
