Delta Doo Dah Kick-Off Party Friday

Ditch the summer gloom and head up to the Delta this summer in the Delta Doo Dah DIY

If last week’s stunning weather wasn’t enough to jog your memory, we’ll remind you that summer’s nearly here and you know what that means…the Delta Doo Dah! As you know by now, the Doo Dah has been reworked into a DIY event this year to accommodate everyone’s schedule revolving around the America’s Cup. Head upriver any time between Memorial Day and Labor Day (give or take a few weeks) and you’re doin’ the Doo!

Devery Stockon (in blue) will be at Friday’s Kick-Off Party to answer Doo Dah’er questions.

Registered boats will be eligible for discounts at businesses along the way, and prizes at our parties, the first of which is this Friday at Berkeley YC. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet/BBQ dinner starting at $7 and a great no-host bar. The effervescent harbormaster of Owl Harbor, Devery Stockon, will be there to give us the low-down on Delta news and author Bill Corp will introduce his brand-spanking new cruising guide, The Sacramento River Boating Guide (he’s bringing some to give away, too!).

Anyone cruising to the Delta is a winner, but only those signed up for the Doo Dah will win prizes!

The party is open for everyone, but only registered Doo Dah’ers will be eligible for prizes and discounts, so if you’re planning on heading up for some hot Delta fun this summer, pop on over to www.DeltaDooDah.com and sign up. It’s free! While you’re there, feel free to order some cool DDD DIY gear and check out the message board for great cruising tips. You can also pick up the official Doo Dah burgee at the party for the discounted price of $18 including tax (or buy it online for $20 plus tax and shipping).

It doesn’t take long to get into the swing of things up-Delta…just be sure to wear your sunscreen!

See you Friday!

Every May, when online registration for the Baja Ha-Ha cruisers’ rally opens, the rush to sign up is so intense it reminds us of the famous Oklahoma Land Rush.
