Bowled Over by the Kiwis

You don’t need a steaming cup of Nespresso to wake up when you have ETNZ bearing down on you at top speed. That’s what Jeff and Adrienne Rogers, who sail their Jeanneau Voyage 12.50 Bon Voyage out of Marina Village, felt when they were bulldozed by ETNZ a few days before the Louis Vuitton started.

Nespresso won’t wake you up as quickly as having a foiling AC72 squeak by you at top speed.

"We were just leaving on an Encinal YC cruise-out to Petaluma aboard when Emirates Team New Zealand scooted by at what seemed like 100 miles per hour," says Adrienne. "I thought these photos might be my last, so I started shooting. We were definitely in the wrong place at the right time!"

And if you think that would be intimidating, imagine if you saw Oracle’s 17 bearing down on you at 30 knots! Check out the video below of pro surfer — and kiteboarder — Kai Lenny taking on the Oracle boys for a real stomach-in-your-throat experience.
