The America’s Cup folks released an announcement early this morning stating that the fleet of AC45 catamarans will be modified to foil in the America’s Cup World Series. The six teams have also agreed to continue racing the foiling AC45s on the ACWS circuit in 2018, after the 35th America’s Cup in 2017.

The AC announcement warns that modifications may need to wait until the 2016 season. "The timeline to make changes to the entire fleet ahead of racing in 2015 is extremely tight." However, both of Luna Rossa’s AC45s already have been modified — Piranha and Swordfish went out foiling together over the weekend.

The actual ACWS venues have not yet been announced, but each team’s country is expected to host an event: Great Britain, Sweden, France, Italy, New Zealand and the U.S.
