42′ Albin Sloop Overdue in the Atlantic

November 15 – Annapolis, MD

A cousin of one of our Latitude 38
crew is currently overdue on a singlehanded voyage from St. Croix
to Annapolis, MD. Henry McAvoy, sailing his 42′ Albin sloop,
Airborne,
sail # US666, was last
contacted by radio on a Coast Guard overflight on October 23
about 350 miles north of the Bahamas. About two days later a
tanker reported sighting him continuing on his way north. Given
those sightings he should have been into the Chesapeake by approximately
November 3. The Coast Guard was notified on November 7 and has
done an extensive offshore search and contacted all East Coast
marinas. If anyone can offer help or information it would be
appreciated. You can email the
Webmistress
.

The De-Naming Ceremony
I once met a man in Florida who told me he’d owned 24 different yachts and renamed every single one of them.
