So you’re preparing to head down the coast to Mexico and are planning several stops along the way to refuel, rewater and reprovision.
A big surge in last-minute Baja Ha-Ha entries has brought the total to just shy of 170, making it the largest Ha-Ha in the last three years.

Mexican government sources confirmed over the weekend that the dead body of British sailor and scuba instructor Paul Whitehouse, 45, was found in the mangroves adjacent to La Paz Bay.
 Sometimes at this time of year, everything south of Mag Bay, as well as the entire Sea of Cortez, is the color of dried blood, indicating 85 degrees or more.

What a rush! Tom Thayer’s J/70 Rampage was looking fast at the Rolex Big Boat Series, but Andy Costello and Paul Cayard on Double Trouble won the 13-boat class.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday night, the leading edge of Hurricane Odile, then a Category 3 ‘major’ hurricane covering an unusually large area, hit Cabo San Lucas and the southern tip of the Baja peninsula.

More than 150 boats have paid up for the 21st running of the Baja Ha-Ha Cruisers’ Rally, from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, which starts October 27 with stops at Turtle Bay and Bahia Santa Maria.
