Weekend Report

There was a lot going on this weekend, so we feel lucky to have braved the traffic on Saturday to drop in on Treasure Island Sailing Center’s Opening Day.

Lookin’ good, Clipper Cove. Lookin’ good.

The weather was perfect — there was enough wind but not too much, and the event was well attended with people going for a spin on sailboats, kayaks and SUPs.

Weekend weather report: There were plenty of waves this weekend in Northern California.

At the other end of Clipper Cove, there was a raft-up with over a dozen boats. This may or may not have been part of the Washed Up Yacht Club, an informal, impromptu and ‘unofficial’ group that is known to gather spontaneously. The raft-up was mostly sailboats, but had a few motorboats in attendance, as well as one submarine.

And yes, for those of you who are wondering — it was a yellow submarine. We only saw the vessel as a murky blob beneath us, but it’s reportedly about 10- to 15-ft in length. We’re not entirely sure that we want to see what’s on the bottom of Clipper Cove, but we still think it’s pretty cool.

It was a perfect weekend for a floating party. Admittedly, pretty much any weekend is perfect for a party.
