The Fleet Descends on Cabo

November 10 – Cabo San Lucas

They’re in! All that’s left of the Y2K Baja Ha-Ha rally from
San Diego to Cabo San Lucas is the partying, after which some
of the fleet will head up to La Paz as part of the La Paz Ha-Ha,
while others have plans as diverse as the fleet itself.

Qualcomm / Globalstar Satellite
Systems Baja Ha-Ha VII Update

November 10 – Cabo San Lucas

We’ll close out this week’s reports from Baja Ha-Ha VII with
these scenes of Leg 3 from desolate and beautiful Bahia Santa
Maria to wild and crazy Cabo San Lucas.

Photos Latitude 38

This Baja Ha-Ha VII update has been brought to you via Qualcomm
satellite phones and Globalstar satellite systems, the official
communications system of the Ha-Ha. We’ve been using their products
to make countless calls and send the photos you’ve seen here.
It’s worked great!

YOTREPS

Who is out making passages in the Pacific and what kind of
weather are they having? Check out YOTREPS – ‘yacht reports’ –

Racing

They’re off at Last!

November 10 – Les Sables d’Olonne, France

High winds and pounding surf had delayed the start of the
Vendée Globe for four days, but the fleet of 24 singlehanders
have finally begun their non-stop race around the world. The
50-knot winds that closed the Port of Olona harbor at Les Sables
d’Olonne shut off and rain started falling as the racers got
underway in a competitive start and three-mile leg to the turning
mark.

The De-Naming Ceremony
I once met a man in Florida who told me he’d owned 24 different yachts and renamed every single one of them.
